WRIT 510 Heuristic

Here is the agreed upon rubric for WRIT 510:

BLOGS (30% of final grade)

Content

  • Content will be looked at more than length:
    • Your post should show that you have taken something from what you have read (not simply summary)
    • It should be thought provoking and relevant
    • It may be a meaningful rant, but you should be able to back up your opinionated statement if you do rant on a particular subject
    • Are you taking a critical approach with your post?  How in depth are you going into what you are writing?

Clarity

  • Is the “Big Fish” clearly stated?  Can it be misinterpreted?
  • The point should be evident and fully explained

Believability

  • Consider including references to credible sources (whether that is a scholarly person, writer of a newspaper, other credible site reference).  If no references are included, you as an author should still be believable and credible.

Audience

  • Posts should state ideas in a way that is understandable by various audiences including those outside of your intended audience (intended versus actual audience)

Grammar Use

  • Your posts should be readable
  • Grammar and spelling use are considered – this is a 500 level writing course!

Citations

  • You should include a link to any form of cited work.  If link is not included, cite the source in some manner whether that is through MLA citation or other form
  • Do not claim other’s work as your own
